Shipping a Pet: Is It Safe?
With years of experience shipping and receiving pets, I know that all pets are well cared for during their journey. Shipping can actually be less of a hassle than driving across a city, state, or country to pick up a pet. Even less, because it only takes a few hours to ship to their new owners.
What is involved in the shipping process?
After we have confirmed your payments. The day and time will depend mainly on flight availability and temperature, but also when the two of us can travel to the airport. I can usually book a flight to ship the same day, although this is a bit stressful and costs a bit more. After I have booked the flight, I will send you an email, text or phone call with the flight number, times, air waybill and the location where the pet will be picked up. Then all you have to do is pick up the pet from your airport. We can also arrange home delivery so you don't have to go to the airport to be picked up. You just wait for the delivery people to bring your pet to your door. However, this is also very stress free. You will need ID (driver's license or ID card) and the tracking number that I have given you. Then I ask individuals to contact me as soon as possible after they receive their pet, as I am very excited to hear from them if everything was ok, what you think and any other questions you may have. The explanation seems long, but it is actually very quick! Pets are also offered food and extra water during the trip if needed. The pet arrives within a few hours on the same day it is shipped. The process takes about 8 to 12 hours and VIP trips are usually shorter.
What do you need to know?
The only thing that is different about this time of year is that the airlines can be very strict about the minimum temperature in each location, although the plane is always kept at 70 degrees. I think it is mainly for your liability and protection. Also, they will not ship in the summer if the temperatures are too high en route. If they are, we simply wait for the next best day to ship, or earlier or later in the day to deal with the hot/cold portion of the day. After you bring your pet home, you will be in direct contact with us with updates, asking questions, and establishing a relationship. We take care of housing our babies and of course prefer to stay in touch and watch how the little pet is growing.
